“When we had our second son, bath time was especially tricky. My pediatrician pointed out that he had very sensitive skin and recommended bathing him every day, followed by a full-body lotion application afterward.
I remember thinking, Are you kidding me? Bath time was already chaotic. It was so difficult—I had this big plastic tub and no space on the bathroom counter. I ended up moving the tub into the kitchen, where I had just been working with raw meat. It felt so cumbersome. I thought, You want me to do this every single day? I’m barely getting by as it is.
As a product designer and a stay-at-home mom, I thought, There’s got to be a better solution.
It was actually over a Christmas break that my husband and I started to work on an idea. At the time, he was still working a 9-to-5 job at a design firm, giving his best ideas to other companies, who were then patenting and trademarking them. During that break, he told me, “Katie, we’re going to design a product that will let me quit my job, and we can build something together.”
That was a dream come true for me. I married him because I wanted to be with him all the time— but he was always at work. So, that’s exactly what we did. I can still picture our sons crawling around in their Christmas pajamas while we sketched, cut materials, and brought our idea to life.
We ended up creating an infant bathtub that stores flat and folds into a small bucket seat that fits right into your bathroom sink. The sink becomes the structure that holds it in place. The tub is made from soft, closed-cell EVA foam, which doesn’t absorb water, so there’s no risk of mold or mildew. It’s warm and gentle against a baby’s skin, almost like a sponge, but it stays dry to the touch when bath time is over.
Before that, I had been lining the sink with towels—like every parent has probably done—just to give my baby a quick bath after a surprise blowout. Sometimes I’d have to do it once or twice a day. It was exhausting. I kept thinking, There has to be something better than towels.
So that’s what we designed. A simple, smart solution. The bathtub folds open almost like a brown paper bag—it pops into shape and holds volume, making bath time easier, cleaner, and more manageable.”
