“I think influencers are amazing—but I don’t believe you have to focus only on the big ones. Micro-influencers can be just as impactful. In my experience, it’s really about finding people who genuinely love or want your product. In the early days, it wasn’t even about influencers. I used to go to all the local yoga and Pilates studios—anywhere I could—to get our bars out there. I’d drop off a tray at the front desk and say, “Here, try selling these to your customers, and then let’s talk.” That’s how many of our first sales happened.

I’d also do sampling events at yoga studios, Barry’s Bootcamp—anywhere that would let me. I’d cut up the bars, talk about them, and get people to try them. When people liked them, they’d get excited, post stories, and tell their friends. It started to spread from there. I really believe that if you’re out there, excited, and genuinely passionate about your product, people will feel that energy. If it’s a good product, they’ll want to share it themselves.

That said, yes—we do use influencers now. We try to send boxes to people who are already users or fans of the product. A lot of times, they post just because they try it, like it, and want to share it. I always try to thank everyone who posts. That’s something I keep on my “third list”—when I have a free moment, whether I’m sitting at a red light or just scrolling, I’ll look to see who posted and personally thank them from my own Instagram. That means a lot to me—whether they have 500 followers or 50,000. I truly appreciate it.”
