“[AI] is way under-hyped long term. So it’s very similar to Socialomics. Beginning with social media, you can see that at that time, no one wanted to talk about it because it was sort of not ready. But then that’s what none of us, including myself, know the timing of when it’s gonna slow, slow, slow, till it’s super fast. But this stuff is gonna be massive. And I think I’m more of a tech optimist. Generally, you go through some pain, which we’re going through right now [with] social media, with teen suicide, but you get through it once you figure it out. And so this AI stuff, it [won’t] take your job, probably not in the short term, but someone that knows how to use AI will take your job. Long term, it’s going to change jobs, just like anything. Like, we don’t farm anymore, like, 100% of us used to farm. Now, very few of us farm. And so it’s going to be radical change.

“So from your background of with Socialnomics, what are some of the positive examples in communities or businesses where it’s really helped? You know, who won the “social media world” over the last 15 years?”

Yeah. I mean, there are a lot of different examples, but so let’s say from a charitable example, [the] Ice Bucket Challenge. If everyone remembers that because that’s what Socialomics is about. Word of mouth on digital steroids, or word of mouth goes to World of Mouth. So you don’t have to have tons of cash. So before you had a lot of cash, there were gatekeepers. If you didn’t have money, you couldn’t get advertised, you couldn’t get exposure and so that was the biggest beneficiary of these tools. Whether it’s social media, whether it’s AI, now a lot of gatekeepers. [Not everyone had] the marketing budgets and the keys to the gate. So then they could kind of quickly get in there and go, well, we don’t [need] money. We just need effort and attitude, get out there and go viral. And then YouTube, now you’re looking at it like podcasts, right? Every place, broadcast networks, so like an all-in podcast. They’re the ones that [have] the presidential candidates on their podcast, not the networks. And so it’s just fascinating how quickly this stuff moves.”
