Facebook Messenger has unveiled Messenger Day to help expand its messaging platform. Instead of recording what the user has done, the new feature for the messaging app allows you to find new users to chat with and hangout with. Using an enhanced camera, Messenger Day could compete with Snapchat by encouraging visual communication with new features and rapid growth. (Source: TechCrunch)

 

Airbnb Value Soars

With the vacation rental market booming, industry giant Airbnb closed off its Series F funding at a total of $1 billion. The company is currently valued at roughly $31 billion. Although sources close to the company say that Airbnb doesn’t plan on going public anytime soon, big-name investors such as Google Capital and TCV are expected to play a role with the company this year. Amazon Seeks to Publish Content Through Cable Boxes

Much like Netflix, Amazon wants a share of the pie in the cable world. While the e-commerce giant has been focused on developing its own devices and products, it has reportedly been in talks with big names in the cable network to arrange possible partnerships. Even though the cable industry is slowly heading towards Internet-based streaming options, Amazon believes it would still be a valuable option to take on cable. (Source: Bloomberg Tech)
